About
The Gasmen Collective
WHO ARE WE?
We are a male, Bristol-based, a cappella singing group, who sing mostly in four-part harmony, and also with three, or five, parts. We have a colourful and melodious musical history, as we are a continuation of The Gasmen who started singing together over ten years ago. Our current group of ten singers has been singing together since 2024.
Our aim is to move, delight and excite our audiences through our rendition of wonderful musical arrangements for unaccompanied voices, as well as enjoying ourselves and raising money for local charities. Since 2022 we've raised over £7,500 through our concerts.
WHAT DO WE SING?
Our existing repertoire is eclectic and has much breadth and diversity, but we are always trying to broaden it further and set ourselves new challenges!
It includes contemporary and classic pop music such as songs by:
The Specials, The Beatles, George Ezra, Paul Simon, Snow Patrol, Ceelo Green and Danger Mouse, Queen, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, David Bowie, The Hollies, Rag and Bone Man, The Beachboys, Katy Perry, Joe Jackson, New Order, Smokey Robinson, Joni Mitchell, Talking Heads, Jimmy MacCarthy, Vince Clarke/ Yazoo and Jimmy Webb.
Songs from modern and traditional folk music include: Anderson’s Coast, Bright Morning Star, Bushes and Briars, Byker Hill, Come Again, Now Is The Cool of the Day, Haul Away Joe, Leave Her Johnny, Man of Constant Sorrow, Parting Glass, Shula Agra, and Underneath the Stars.
We have some Jazz including: Every Time We Say Goodbye, Five Guys Named Moe, and Just a Gigolo.
We also give Musical Theatre arrangements a good go such as: Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, and We’re Your Friends from The Jungle Book.
HOW DO WE LEARN?
We distribute audio parts of the individual parts as well as the whole song, so that people can learn them by ear. We also distribute a musical score for those who can read music, but that is not essential to be a member
WHERE DO WE PERFORM?
Over the years we have performed in concert halls, churches, pubs, clubs, front rooms, back rooms, festivals, parks and some curious and ingenious settings!
And whilst we have built a dedicated and enthusiastic following we are always trying to reach, and communicate with, new and developing audiences.
If you would like to know more, to book us for a concert, to engage with us on a musical project, or to join us as a singer, please contact us via email at GasmenCollective@gmail.com. We look forward to meeting you.
